In the rare instance a sitter or dog walker needs to cancel at the last minute, we’ve got your back. Every booking made through TLP includes reservation protection. Here’s what that means:

We’ll help make up the difference
You’ll receive a full refund if your booking is canceled by your sitter or dog walker within seven days of the service start date (or within 14 days of the service start date for recognized holidays). We’ll also give you TLP credit to put towards the cost of a replacement booking.

What is reservation protection?

It doesn’t happen often, but if the sitter or dog walker you booked has to cancel at the lastminute, we’ll work with you to find a new sitter or dog walker.

  • If a sitter or dog walker cancels your booking within seven days of your service start date, we’ll give you a refund. We will also provide a $20 credit to help cover the cost of a new service.
  • If a sitter cancels an overnight stay the day before (or the day of) the start date, you’ll receive a $50 credit to help cover the cost of the new service.
  • If any day of your booking falls on one of our recognized holiday dates and a sitter or walker cancels the booking within 14 days of the service start date, we’ll also give you a refund.

Note: If the booking is canceled by the pet care provider because of a lack of information from the pet owner or pet aggression, then the owner will have to cover the full cost of any new reservation.

What are the service fees?

We believe everyone deserves the unconditional love of a pet—and at TenderLove&Paws, our mission is to make it easier to experience that love. We do this by providing an innovative and secure platform, offering 24/7 customer support, and building better tools. Service fees allow TenderLove&Paws to operate and continually make improvements based on the needs of our growing community. They also cover the TLP Promise, a reimbursement program primarily intended to protect pets.

Owners

As a pet owner, you’ll see an 10% service fee listed separately at checkout when you pay for the booking. This fee can’t exceed $50.

This fee helps support TLP’s operating costs, and it’s refundable should the booking be canceled by either the sitter or the owner in accordance with your sitter’s cancellation policy. If the booking dates change, the fee will be updated accordingly.

Please note that when you make a booking, the list price shown on a sitter’s profile includes the service fee paid by the sitter.

How do these fees impact my business?

For pet sitters and dog walkers on TenderLove&Paws, these fees are designed to support you every step of the way, and they’re standard in our industry. We use these standard service fees to do things like:

  • Continually improve your experience with the TLP website.
  • Expand our Trust & Safety team to offer best-in-class 24/7 emergency support.

In short, these fees help us build our business so we can help you build yours.

1. Press the "Add New Booking Product" button located in the top right corner of the page.

2. Upon reaching the next page, select the services (e.g., Short Stay) you wish to offer by marking the checkboxes in the right column under the "Start Selling" section. Then, click the "SELL NOW" button.

3. After the page refreshes, click on the "START SELLING" button associated with your chosen booking service in the left column.

4. Once you land on the product editing page, carefully follow the provided instructions specific to the relevant product.

Sitter Responsibilities/Expectations

Sitter Responsibilities for Overnight Care:

  • Dog routine (dog walk, feeding schedule, play time, cuddles, any medications)
  • Send pics / video updates of pet to client throughout the day
  • Car overnight in driveway so someone is always home
  • Clean bed sheets / towels after use 
  • Cleans and puts away any dishes used 
  • Take out the trash
  • Bring in mail / packages throughout the stay 
  • Clean / pick up after pets 
  • Water plants
  • Alternate lights, adjust blinds and drapes

Sitter Responsibilities for 30 min drop in visit:

  • Walk the dog
  • Fill up water bowl
  • Play time
  • Send pic / video update to owner

Meet & Greet:

  • All new clients will have meet & greet with the owner and sitter to go over dog routine

Sitter Responsibilities for short stay:

  • Dog routine (walk, feeding, play time)
  • Send pics / videos to owners 
  • Bring in mail / packages that arrive
